Stages of a knight
-Page: -starting at the age of seven or eight
-noble's son began training
-learned to fight. use weapons, ride horses
-waiting at table
-learn to play music and sing
-female attendants took keen interest in education of a page
-taught him about literature, music, knightly courtesy
-warriors taught page how to hunt and use weapons
-Squire:-starting at the age fourteen or fifteen
-page accepted by experienced knight as squire
-would serve as knight's assistant and bodyguard
-attending knight's tournaments, fighting by his side in battle
-knight shared knowledge with squire
-knight instructs squire in use and care of weapons, in heraldry, in siege warfare
-tournaments, combat training, hunting took up most of squire's time
-Most squires expected to be knighted, but many could not afford necessary armors and equipment
-Remained squires for life
-Knights:-age twenty-one
-before formal ceremony, squire fasted and kept vigil over armor overnight
-in morning, bathed and purified
-new knight was dubbed, robed, armed by his lord

Kingdom of heaven
In the movie, Kingdom of Heaven, a noble's son, Balian, had never gone through the proper stages of becoming a knight. Balian is the son of Barisan of Ibelin. Although Balian had not gone through the proper stages of becoming a knight, his father taught him how to fight with a sword.
A knights' tale
In the movie, A Knight's Tale, William Thatcher, also has not gone through the proper stages of becoming a knight. When he was a young boy, his father took him to a real knight so William could go through the stages. As time went by, William had never been a knight. It was when William's opponent, Adhemar, found out William wasn't a real knight, William got arrested. Then as William was at the stocks, Prince Edward dubbed him as a real knight.
